Mailbox migration to begin in April
Information Technology Services will begin migrating Vmail mailboxes from Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2010 in April. For the majority of the Vanderbilt community, this process is not expected to pose any issues.
For users who are still using Outlook 2003, RPC encryption MUST be enabled. There are 2 methods to achieve this:
1) For departments who manage profiles using Group Policy, RPC encryption can be enabled using their group policy.
2) RPC encryption can be enabled manually on each client.
For more detailed information on enabling encryption, please see: support.microsoft.com/kb/2006508.
For clients that use Entourage 2004 or 2008 (Office for Mac), it is recommended that they are upgraded to Outlook 2011 (strongly recommended) or Entourage 2008 Web Services Edition. More information can be found at: microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=10419.
Anyone who is interested in migrating early in this process, please submit a request to: ExchangeAdopters@vanderbilt.edu if you have not already notified your service delivery manager. Anyone who has special scheduling needs for their migrations, please contact your service delivery manager at: its.vanderbilt.edu/support/servicedelivery.
