Magnet phone call event to be tomorrow
VUMC is holding an event tomorrow, from 1:15 to 2:30 p.m. in 208 Light Hall, to receive a phone call from the American Nurses Credentialing Center to hear about the institution's Magnet status. The event will be hosted by Marilyn Dubree, MSN, R.N., Executive Chief Nursing Officer.
Appraisers from the center were here earlier in the year to determine if Vanderbilt, which first achieved magnet designation in 2006, would receive a second designation.
Fewer than 6 percent of hospitals in the country are recognized as Magnet organizations. Achieving Magnet Designation meant satisfying a demanding set of criteria that measured the strength and quality of nursing and our interdisciplinary approach to patient care. The designation is awarded for four years.
