Department of Surgery Research Collaborative Seminars Return Tuesday, Oct. 9
Anna Kenney, Ph.D., associate professor of Neurological Surgery and Cancer Biology, opens this year’s Department of Surgery Research Collaborative seminar series with a presentation on “Mitogenic and metabolic pathway regulation by Sonic Hedgehog in the developing cerebellum and in medulloblastoma,” Tuesday, Oct. 9, at 5 p.m. in the University Club, Hermitage Room.
Kenney’s laboratory, Pediatric Neuro-Oncology and Brain Development, is working to better understand the etiology of childhood brain tumors and ultimately identify new treatment options.
The Department of Surgery Research Collaborative was developed to provide synergy between the basic sciences and clinical research as a means of enhancing research opportunities within the Section of Surgical Sciences.
The collaborative hosts meetings the second Tuesday of every month, offering opportunities for informal discussion as well as presentations from both the basic sciences and translational research. Section faculty, residents, fellows and staff are invited and encouraged to attend.
