Eosinophilic esophagitis study needs participants ages 12-25
Eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE) is a condition wherein the esophagus becomes inflamed and irritated. The cause is thought to be an allergic reaction. Symptoms can include:
- Difficulty swallowing
- Feeding problems
- Heartburn
- Stomach pain
- Nausea
- Vomiting
There are currently no treatments for EoE, but VUMC is running a clinical study to test a new drug.
Researchers are recruiting patients age 12 to 25 who have a history of EoE and who are having difficulty swallowing.
The study may last up to 46 weeks with up to 12 study visits.
