Nobel laureate Beutler to speak, Monday, Sept. 23
Nobel laureate Bruce Beutler, M.D., will present a seminar for the PMI Seminar series at noon on Monday, Sept. 23, as part of the Pathology, Microbiology and Immunology Seminar Series.
The lecture will be in 208 Light Hall.
Beutler shared the 2011 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine with Jules Hoffman and Ralph Steinman for their work on innate immunity and the discovery of an important family of receptors that allow mammals to sense microbial infections. He is currently the director of the Center for Genetics of Host Defense at UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas.
The seminar is presented by graduate students in the Department of Pathology, Microbiology and Immunology, Host-Pathogens Interactions Division, and the entire Vanderbilt community is invited.
