Bedside Matters rounds to be tomorrow

The next Bedside Matters, an hour-long, monthly rounds geared toward helping Vanderbilt University Medical Center health care providers deal with the social and emotional issues of caring for patients and families, will take place on Wednesday, Aug. 20.

The brownbag lunch event, held in 202 Light Hall from noon to 1 p.m., is titled: “The impact of complex family dynamics on critical illness and treatment direction.”

The objectives are to understand how pre-ICU discussions can impact care in the ICU, examine the challenges of setting expectations after a life altering event and appreciate the impact of the interactions of patients with their families on ICU staff.

The presenters will be: Stuart McGrane, M.B.Ch.B., assistant professor of Anesthesiology and BICU Medical Director; Lisa Rae, M.D., assistant professor of Surgery and Burn ICU Attending; Maria Troche-Perez, Burn Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioner; and Teri-Renee Huff, Burn RSL.

The free event is open to VUMC staff, faculty and students. No registration is required. CME, CEU and Contact Hours will be offered.
