Flu vaccine now available for patients, faculty, staff and volunteers

Influenza vaccine is now available for patients. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends influenza vaccination of everyone older than 6 months to protect themselves and their close contacts. Influenza vaccine is now available for Vanderbilt patients. When offering influenza vaccine, clinicians should also consider offering patients pneumococcal vaccine to all patients greater than 65 years of age.

Influenza vaccine is also available to all VUMC faculty, staff and volunteers.  Flulapalooza will be Oct. 1, from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. All faculty, staff, and volunteers should get an influenza vaccine every year to prevent spread of the virus to patients, families, and other staff and faculty. This is especially important as some of our close contacts either cannot get the vaccine or will not be as protected from the vaccine due to underlying conditions.
