VUMC participating in community disaster drill, Saturday, May 2

Vanderbilt University Medical Center will take part in a full-scale community disaster drill along with numerous emergency response and community agencies on Saturday, May 2 from 9 a.m. until noon.
The scenario will be an airplane collision. Several “victims” will be transported to VUMC during the disaster drill.

Vanderbilt departments participating include the Adult and Pediatric Emergency Departments, Vanderbilt University Hospital (VUH) and Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt patient registration staff; Traffic and Parking, Vanderbilt University Police Department, the VUH and Children’s Hospital Access Centers, Guest Services, LifeFlight and the Emergency Preparedness Department.

The event is being hosted by the Nashville Airport Authority, and includes participation of the following local agencies: Nashville/Davidson County Office of Emergency Management, Tennessee Highway Patrol, Regional Medical Communications Center Davidson/MidCumberland (RMCC), Metro Public Health Department of Nashville and Davidson County; Tennessee Emergency Management Agency; Metro Police Department, Nashville Fire Department and several other local hospitals.

A back-up date has been set for the same time on Saturday, May 9.
