ICD-10 Education Fair is tomorrow
An ICD-10 Education Fair this Friday, May 8, seeks to boost awareness and knowledge of the new medical coding and reporting system going into effect later this year.
At least 6,000 clinicians, coders and staff across the medical enterprise will be impacted by the change to ICD-10, which stands for International Classification of Disease and Related Health Problems, 9th Revision. The new system contains more than 68,000 unique medical diagnoses, up from the 14,000 codes of the current version.
VUMC is already transitioning clinics to the new system, with a target to have all systems changed over to the new codes by August. On May 5, eight clinics went live with the new system.
The education fair on Friday will be held at Vanderbilt Health One Hundred Oaks from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. Members of the ICD-10 team will be located at across from the elevators to the third floor finance offices to help train providers from Surgical Weight Loss, Pediatric Neurology, Pediatric Adolescent Medicine and the Women's Health Clinics.
For more information visit VUMC’s ICD-10 transition website (Vanderbilt login required) or by calling the project transition office at 615-343-1657.
