ICD-10 Education Fair set for Sept. 15
A series of informational events continues in order to boost awareness and knowledge of the new medical coding and reporting system going into effect later this year.
At least 6,000 clinicians, coders and staff across the medical enterprise will be impacted by the change to ICD-10, which stands for International Classification of Disease and Related Health Problems, 9th Revision. The new system contains more than 68,000 unique medical diagnoses, up from the 14,000 codes of the current version.
VUMC is already transitioning clinics to the new system, with a target to have all clinics changed over to the new codes by August. As of Aug. 6 more than 60 percent of the VMG clinics have gone live with the new coding system.
For more information or to sign up visit VUMC’s ICD-10 transition website (Vanderbilt login required) or by calling the project transition office at 615-343-1657.
The remaining fair is set for Sept. 15 in Langford Auditorium.
