MOC Made Easy: How may I participate in the VUMC MOC Portfolio Program?

Vanderbilt University Medical Center has been certified as a Maintenance of Certification Portfolio Program Sponsor by the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS).

This provides the VUMC MOC Office with the opportunity to review and approve internal QI projects for MOC Part IV credit. Physicians employed by Vanderbilt University Medical Center are eligible to participate in this program.

The MOC Program at VUMC is designed for project teams of physicians. The steps below detail the initial project application process for project leaders who want to submit their project(s) for MOC Part IV Credit:

1. Follow project standards and guidelines set forth by the ABMS and VUMC MOC Portfolio Program for project design and meaningful participation. Details on these standards and guidelines may be found at http://cme.mc.vanderbilt.edu/moc

2. Contact Kelly Burlison, MOC program manager, to notify of intent to submit project by sending an e-mail to mocportfolio@vanderbilt.edu. For a project to be considered, it must be new, current or have been completed within the last 24 months

3. Complete the VUMC MOC Part IV Project Application form that is posted on the MOC website (assistance with form completion is available, upon request)

4. Submit completed application to MOC Office by e-mailing to mocportfolio@vanderbilt.edu

After a completed project application is received, it will be reviewed by the MOC Office and approved if it meets required standards and guidelines.

The deadline for 2015 application submissions has passed, and applications for 2016 credit are currently being accepted.
