Pedestrian rerouting to begin on VUH Plaza
During the next few days, pedestrians who use the Vanderbilt University Hospital (VUH) Plaza will be guided to take an interior route through buildings, rather than across the plaza, due to an inspection of the VUH cooling towers located at the top of the hospital.
While the inspection is underway, the north-south plaza walkway between VUH and the existing fenced construction area will be closed. For about a week, those walking through the plaza will be routed inside via the new entrances next to Au Bon Pain to the north and near the Courtyard Cafe to the south. The pathways will be clearly marked.
This temporary detour is to allow a large lift to be positioned in the fenced construction area on the VUH Plaza. The lift will allow inspection of the VUH cooling tower enclosure located above the building’s 11th floor. The inspection is in preparation for the replacement of the cooling tower later this spring.
