Gerald S. Gotterer Health Professions Education Research Day to be Friday, Dec. 9
The Gerald S. Gotterer Health Professions Education Research Day will be held Friday, Dec. 9, from noon to 4 p.m. in Medical Center East Rooms 8380 A-B and the North Lobby of Light Hall.
Since 2009, Health Professions Education Research Day (HPERD) has celebrated and highlighted health professions education scholarship at the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine, School of Nursing, and throughout the Vanderbilt community. The Office of Health Sciences Education, the Office for Continuous Professional Development, and the Educator Development Program are pleased to announce the 8th Annual HPERD!
Kim Lomis, M.D., associate dean, Undergraduate Medical Education, will deliver the keynote address "Innovations in Assessment: Vanderbilt's Role in the International Conversation" in MCE 8380 A/B from noon to 1 p.m. The keynote address will be followed by breakout sessions from 1 to 3 p.m. The poster session will be held in Light Hall North Lobby from 3 to 4 p.m.
2 breakout sessions include:
Session 1: Competency-Based Assessments (CBA) 101: Participants will engage in activities that promote their understanding of CBA and how to begin the process of implementing CBA using milestones/competencies and entrustable professional activities (EPA).
Session 2: Competency-Based Assessments - Implementing and Determining Outcomes: This session is geared toward more advanced users of CBA. Participants will identify current and best practices, highlight successful program implementations and overcoming challenges.
