Nomination deadline for 2017 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Award is tomorrow
The annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Award will be presented Monday, Jan. 16, to a faculty or staff member in the School of Medicine, School of Nursing or Medical Center who emulates the principles of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. through his or her work. This service can be in areas related to creating a better understanding between people of different backgrounds, working to enhance the economic and health status of individuals, or fostering a community at Vanderbilt symbolic of Dr. King’s teachings.
The award will be presented at the Martin Luther King Jr. Commemorative Lecture during the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday celebration. A committee of people from the School of Medicine, School of Nursing and the Medical Center will serve as judges for the award.
All nominations are due by Friday, Jan. 6, and must include a letter of recommendation from the person nominating as well as the nominee’s resume.
