Dayani Center Winter Wellness Series begins today

You are more likely to be injured in a fall during winter than any other time of year. You can help reduce your risk of falls, as well as other health hazards, such as heart disease, high blood pressure and diabetes by improving your physical fitness.

The exercise specialists at the Vanderbilt Dayani Center would like to help you start the new year off safely and in better health by inviting you to attend the upcoming Winter Wellness Series. The event kicks off this month with talks on "Better Balance" and "Intro. to Exercise." All sessions are free and open to Vanderbilt employees.

Intro. to Exercise will explore how to set fitness goals, prevent injury and create a safe and effective exercise program that fits your lifestyle. The sessions will be held on Jan. 17 from 4:30-5:15 p.m. and on Jan. 26 from 7:30-8:15 a.m. Better Balance will offer tips on how to improve your balance through strength training, body awareness and will also include tips on how to "fall-proof" your home. These sessions will be held on Jan. 19 from 7:30-8:15 a.m. and on Jan. 31 from 4:30-5:15 p.m.
