Gatherings provide updates, forum for feedback on future of IdeaShare
During the summer, the Strategic Directions team tested IdeaShare, a new, interactive way to share ideas with nearly 2,400 people throughout the Medical Center, and much was learned.
Over the course of IdeaShare, more than 300 ideas were shared across three campaigns around how we communicate at the Medical Center, how we can take action to improve our work, how we can connect around our interests or passions and how we might change our benefits. These ideas resulted in nearly 40,000 Pairwise votes.
As a follow up to IdeaShare, participants were invited to gatherings where top ideas were reviewed, updates on the status of some ideas that were shared were presented and feedback was gathered on how Strategic Directions might enhance idea sharing and increase connections throughout the organization moving forward.
“IdeaShare made me feel included, and more encouraged to contribute towards VUMC’s success,” said Clinical/Translational Research Coordinator Manideepthi Pemmaraju, MBBS, MPH. “The gatherings were well organized and interactive, and I enjoyed the opportunity to share/discuss ideas with fellow colleagues and senior leadership.”
Ideas related to on-campus food trucks, creating an online information hub for “all things VUMC” and benefits wellness options were discussed.
“Our employees provided great feedback regarding health plan options and about benefits that matter most to them,” said Traci Nordberg, Chief Human Resources Officer. “In response, we have been able to evaluate and incorporate new plan offerings, including these new wellness options at the Vanderbilt University Recreation Wellness Center and Osher Center.”
The ideas and feedback that were shared about how we can increase communication, connectivity and collaboration throughout our organization are being compiled into a proposal that will be shared with Medical Center leaders in the coming weeks.
“We’re grateful to everyone who took part to help us learn and to demonstrate the potential of involving as many people as possible around ideas,” said Reed Omary, M.D., M.S., chair of the Department of Radiology and Radiological Sciences.
IdeaShare is an initiative of the VUMC Strategic Directions team, which Omary co-leads with Jennifer Pietenpol, Ph.D., Executive Vice President for Research and director of the Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center, with support of William Stead, M.D., Chief Strategy Officer for VUMC.
