Epic's App Orchard Program allows for the sharing of VUMC-developed products
As part of the Epic community — which includes robust interaction from engaged users all over the world — Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) is welcome to participate in Epic’s App Orchard Program. This program, launched earlier this year by Epic, allows Epic customers to create software products that are compatible with Epic applications and make them available for other Epic customers.
VUMC’s membership in the App Orchard means that innovators throughout the Medical Center can market their ideas to a broader audience. At the same time, VUMC has access to the ideas and software apps of other leaders in the healthcare industry. Developers can market free or commercial apps through the platform.
To assist developers in creating products that are compatible with its applications, Epic supplies App Orchard Program members with various tools and resources to simplify innovation and connectivity. These resources include tools for testing new products with both released and future versions of Epic’s software, a test environment that is populated with example patients, and on-call Epic representatives to assist with technical support.
