Research on Diabetes and Hearing Loss
The purpose of the study is to examine the relationship between diabetes, noise, and hearing loss in persons 18-25 years of age with type 1 diabetes.
We are seeking subjects with type 1 diabetes and no known congenital (hearing loss since birth) hearing loss nor current external or middle ear
We are also recruiting controls (persons without diabetes) for comparison of the same age and criteria indicated.
The majority of testing will involve sitting in a comfortable chair and listening to sounds with the option of watching a closed captioned movie.
The testing will take approximately 4 hours and can be broken up over two sessions.
Subjects will be compensated $10 per hour of testing.
