Alternatives to Stamps Suggested by Station 17 Post Office

It has been widely reported in the media that the U.S. Postal Service has been experiencing budget problems. Probably as a consequence, they have begun limiting the amount of stamp stock that contract units such as Station 17 can have on hand. We have fewer stamps of fewer types than we used to, and we are aware that this has sometimes prevented us from meeting all our customers’ needs.

As an alternative, we would like VUMC departments to consider making greater use of meter mail. Postage dispensed through our meters is not subject to the same limits, and can sometimes be more convenient to the user than sticking stamps. We have distributed a special edition of our Snail Mail Gazette on this subject to all our mailboxes and posted it on our website at the below link:
