Noted Physician, Author Featured in Lecture for Vanderbilt Students and Faculty, Friday, Feb. 26, Noon

Abraham Verghese, M.D., a critically acclaimed author, will give this year’s Abraham Flexner Lectureship in Medical Education.

Verghese, professor and senior associate chair for the Theory and Practice of Medicine at the Stanford University School of Medicine, is touring with his latest novel “Cutting for Stone.”

The new book chronicles the lives of conjoined twins, born in Ethiopia and separated at birth, and how geography shapes their destiny. Verghese also wrote “My Own Country,” the true story of the impact of the AIDS epidemic in Eastern Tennessee.

When: Friday, Feb. 26, at noon.

Where: 208 Light Hall

The event is free and open to the public.
