Research Study Needs Participants Age 18-28 with Type 1 Diabetes

Type I Diabetes and Susceptibility to Noise Induced Hearing Loss

The purpose of the study is to examine the relationship between diabetes, noise, and hearing loss in persons age 18-28 with type 1 diabetes.
We are seeking subjects with type 1 diabetes and no known congenital (hearing loss since birth) hearing loss nor current external or middle ear infection to participate in this study. We are also recruiting controls (persons without diabetes) for comparison of the same age and criteria indicated.

The majority of testing will involve sitting in a comfortable chair and listening to sounds with the option of watching a closed captioned movie. The duration of testing will take approximately four hours and can be broken up over several sessions.

Subjects will be compensated $10 per hour of testing.
