The Nashville Film Festival Presents "Robert Churchwell: The Jackie Robinson of Journalism" April 22
A documentary about Robert Churchwell, the late father of Vanderbilt physicians Andre, Keith and Kevin Churchwell, will be featured during the Nashville Film Festival.
“Robert Churchwell: The Jackie Robinson of Journalism” will air at Green Hills Regal Hills Cinema at 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 22.
Robert Churchwell, who died last year at 91, was the first African-American journalist at a major Southern newspaper. He worked for the Nashville Banner for three decades. The documentary was produced and directed by Gloria Respress-Churchwell, wife of Kevin Churchwell, M.D., chief executive officer and executive director of the Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt.
