Participants Needed for a Research Study on Sweating

Researchers in Vanderbilt’s Department of Neurology are looking for healthy African-American and Caucasian men and women between the ages of 12 and 80 for participation in a research study on sweating.

The study consists of two parts. The initial part requires a 90 minute visit for screening and physical exam, and a one hour visit for a sugar test and
sweat test.

This study is designed to determine the amount of sweat a normal person produces using a chemical called acetylcholine.

Some patients will be invited for a second sweat test to test the equipment's reliability.

Participants will be compensated for taking part in this study.

Participation criteria are:
• Age 12 to 80.
• Do not suffer from diabetes, heart disease, Parkinson’s disease or
other diseases known to affect the autonomic nervous
system.
• Are not on medications such as antidepressants, allergy
medications or other medications that could interfere with the
test and which cannot be stopped safely for two days.
