Benefits Open Enrollment: Special Enrollment for Adult Children starts Sept. 16

Due to Health Care Reform, your adult child (to age 26) is eligible to be on the Vanderbilt Health, Dental or Vision plans so long as he/she does not have health, dental and/or vision coverage available through his/her employer.

There is a special enrollment for adult children Sept. 16-Oct. 15 (overlapping regular Open Enrollment beginning Oct. 1). Benefits will take effect Jan. 1, 2011.

The Federal government requires us to offer a 30-day enrollment period for adult children this year. To conveniently enroll online, you must wait until Oct. 1. If you choose to enroll your adult child prior to Oct. 1, you must use a paper enrollment form. Enrollment forms are available by request at HR Express or via e-mail to benefits@vanderbilt.edu beginning Sept. 16.

Note: If you submit a paper form and then enroll online during regular Open Enrollment, your online enrollment will override your paper form. The last enrollment Human Resources receives from you will determine your 2011 elections.

For more information on Open Enrollment, visit http://hr.vanderbilt.edu/benefits/oe.htm or contact benefits@vanderbilt.edu.

EVERYONE MUST COMPLETE AN ONLINE ENROLLMENT FORM THIS YEAR.

Even if you plan to waive every benefit, you must complete an online enrollment form, or you will receive default benefits.
