Weekly Science Communication Clinics Begin Friday, Jan. 7

Weekly Science Communication Clinics

The clinics offer opportunities both to learn new approaches to communication (writing, publishing and presenting) and to get feedback and assistance on drafts of papers and grants.

Beginning Jan. 7, the Center for Science Communication will host a weekly Scholarly Communications Clinic on Fridays from 12:10-1:10 p.m. These clinics combine a workshop approach with consultation on attendees’ drafts. Thus, they offer an opportunity both to learn new approaches to writing and presenting and to get advice on issues specific to communication of your work.

Each clinic will include a brief presentation/discussion on a specific topic; the calendar will rotate through topics related to publishing, grant writing, figure design and presentations. The session will then open up to address attendees’ concerns, whether related to that session’s topic or their own work.

For those interested in applying the ideas discussed in the session, an exercise will be planned; those who want feedback or suggestions on their drafts may confer with other participants or the CSC’s consultants.
