BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH
Dr. Moots graduated with high honors from Duke University with
a B.S. in 1976, and earned his medical degree from Ohio State
University School of Medicine in 1980. He served an internship
in Internal Medicine, a residency in Neurology and a fellowship
in Neuropathology from 1980 – 1986 at University of Virginia
Medical Center. Moots also was a fellow in Neuro-Oncology at
Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York and a clinical
fellow in Neurology at The New York Hospital – Cornell Medical
Center. In 1989 Moots became clinical assistant neurologist
in the Departments of Neurology and Pediatrics at Memorial
Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, then assistant professor of
Neurology and assistant attending neurologist for the hospital.
He joined the faculty at Vanderbilt University Medical Center
in 1991 as assistant professor of Neurology and became an assistant
professor of Medicine in 1993. Currently, Moots is associate
professor of Neurology and associate professor of Medicine
for Vanderbilt. Board certified in Neurology and Psychiatry,
Moots is a journal reviewer for Annals of Neurology, Cancer,
Cancer Research and Neurology. He is also a member of the Scientific
Review Committee and the Cancer Patient Care Center Governance
Committee for the Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center, as well
as the Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group – Brain Tumor Working
Group. Dr. Moots specializes in the treatment of primary central
nervous system neoplasms, metastatic and nonmetastatic neurological
complications of systemic cancer and management of cancer related
pain syndromes. His research focuses on chemotherapy trials
for primary central nervous system neoplasms.
