NEUROLOGY GOES GREEN

On August 10, the Vanderbilt Neurology Department announced its first Green Initiative. As part of this new program, efforts for recycling departmental appropriate items will now be underway, and environmentally friendly measures will be instituted to reduce trash and help preserve the environment. Durable office equipment will also be tried to be surplused or refurbished. This will be an ongoing and increasing effort, and the first in the Medical Center; aside from the Medical School which already has efforts underway. We will implement the 4 EPA Principles: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle and Respond.

The first part of the effort will be to conserve electrical energy by TURNING OFF computers, monitors and office lights when we finish a day’s work.

Vanderbilt Neurology plans to expand upon this project over time in an effort to become the GREENEST department in the country.
