Child Residency>
REQUIREMENTS FOR APPLICATION

The Child Neurology Program has six resident positions. Two new residents are appointed each year. Child neurology residents may begin at the PGY-3 level if they have completed or expect to complete one of the following two options prior to starting residency: (1) two years of postgraduate training in pediatrics or (2) one year of postgraduate training in pediatrics and one year in internal medicine. A child neurology resident may also begin at the PGY-2 level after one year of postgraduate training in pediatrics, to be followed by four years of neurology, including one year of neuroscience research. Interested applicants should apply simultaneously for Pediatric and Child Neurology resident training at Vanderbilt Medical Center. Pediatric applicants are selected trough the National Residency Matching Program (NRMP), and Child Neurology residents are selected through the National Neurology Matching Program, which matches applicants prior to the NRMP. Vanderbilt will work to arrange interviews with both departments, and those accepted into the Child Neurology program will generally be accepted into Pediatrics. Residents also have the option of fulfilling their Pediatric training at another institution. Contact the residency program coordinator at 615-936-1567 with any questions. The Department of Neurology at Vanderbilt University Medical Center is actively committed to maintaining a diversified body of residents and fellows in an environment that is dedicated to excellence. To support this mission, travel reimbursement will be offered to selected applicants to the neurology residency and training programs
