Vanderbilt Dermatology Moves to One Hundred Oaks

July 29, 2009

Vanderbilt University Medical Center’s Division of Dermatology becomes the latest practice area to open at Vanderbilt Health at One Hundred Oaks on Monday, Aug. 3.

The 28,000-square-foot clinical area will consolidate all areas of VUMC’s adult Dermatology practices (except the practice in Williamson County), including general dermatology, phototherapy, MOHS micrographic surgery, and cosmetic dermatology. Pediatric dermatology will not be affected.

George Stricklin, M.D., Ph.D., director of the division, says that the changes will be immediate for staff, faculty and patients.

“This will give us elbow room and eliminate the current constraints of clinic-room availability, so that individual clinics can reach their full potential,” he said. “We will also be consolidating all cosmetic and laser activities into one dedicated area under the direction of Dr. Michel McDonald.” The cosmetic dermatology area will have a separate waiting room and entrance.
Stricklin also noted that the One Hundred Oaks location will have better facilities for training of residents, including a dedicated library/conference room and what he calls “outstanding” facilities for dermatopathology and surgical training.

“All in all, I believe that the Dermatology Clinic at OHO creates an environment in which the faculty and staff see themselves as a major, unified program providing the best in dermatological health care, training and research,” Stricklin said. “It gives us an enhanced identity while still being capable of growing and evolving as the health care landscape changes.”
