Vanderbilt Heart Purchases The Cardiac Center in MurfreesboroAugust 5, 2009
Vanderbilt University Medical Center recently purchased the Murfreesboro, Tenn., cardiology practice, The Cardiac Center. The practice has a new name -- Vanderbilt Heart Murfreesboro.
Murali Kolli, M.D., and Ravinder Reddy Manda, M.D., will continue to staff the practice and are joined by Vanderbilt cardiologist Ahmad Abu-Halimah, M.D.
“We are thrilled to have the combined expertise of Drs. Kolli, Manda and Abu-Halimah join the Vanderbilt Heart team,” said Keith Churchwell, M.D., executive director and chief medical officer of Vanderbilt Heart. “Their philosophy toward fighting heart disease on all fronts – prevention, treatment and education – fits well with Vanderbilt’s mission.”
Kolli founded The Cardiac Center in 2003. He has specialized training in invasive cardiology, nuclear cardiology, echocardiography, pacemaker placement, and internal defibrillator insertion.
“Vanderbilt has a national reputation as a leader in cardiac care, and I am happy to play a key role in its outreach mission to take heart care to the community,” Kolli said. “I am also pleased to once again be collaborating with my former Page-Campbell colleagues at Vanderbilt.”
Manda joined Kolli at The Cardiac Center in 2004. He specializes in invasive cardiology, nuclear cardiology, echocardiography and interventional peripheral angiography.
“I have a long-standing relationship with the people of Murfreesboro, and look forward to collaborating with Vanderbilt to continue to provide outstanding care to my patients,” said Manda.
Abu-Halimah, assistant professor of Medicine, completed a general cardiology fellowship at Vanderbilt and dual interventional cardiology training in cardiac and peripheral vascular interventions.
“I am thrilled to have the opportunity to help meet the cardiac needs for the population of Murfreesboro and to collaborate with Drs. Kolli and Manda,” Abu-Halimah said.
