Critical Care Tower - Ribbon Cutting Ceremony Remarks
November 9, 2009
Dr. Jeff Balser, vice chancellor for Health Affairs, makes remarks at the CCT ribbon cutting ceremony.
Vanderbilt University Medical Center officials cut the ribbon on Nov. 5 at a ceremony in the atrium dedicating the new Critical Care Tower addition to Vanderbilt University Hospital.
After nearly three years of construction the new 11-story, $169 million, Critical Care Tower (CCT) will open for patients on Nov. 14.
The opening of the new Critical Care Tower represents the most significant increase in adult inpatient hospital rooms at VUMC since Vanderbilt University Hospital opened in 1980.
The Critical Care Tower, which features 141 new acute-care inpatient rooms and 12 new state-of-the art operating rooms, will immediately house VUMC’s Surgical Intensive Care Unit, Neurological Intensive Care Unit and Medical Intensive Care Unit.
In addition to new acute-care inpatient rooms and operating rooms, the CCT is equipped with state-of-the-art technology throughout all areas and is designed to support the concept of patient and family-centered care. Now family members will be able to stay, comfortably, right in the patient’s room with their critically-ill loved one.
Watch remarks from VUMC officials and take a look at the new facility.
