LifeFlight changes flight helmets to mirror Vanderbilt football

July 1, 2011

Vanderbilt LifeFlight has changed its flight crew helmets to mirror those worn by Vanderbilt University football players.

LifeFlight crew member’s helmets provide safety, hearing protection, and are also part of the communication system onboard the helicopter. Previous helmets were solid white. The new helmets are designed with Vanderbilt gold, a white stripe down the middle, and the Vanderbilt Athletic “star” on each side.

“The helmets undergo a refurbishment process and it was time for that process,” said Jeanne Yeatman, R.N., EMT, director of LifeFlight. “In keeping with our alignment with Vanderbilt and our association with our Event Medicine team providing emergency care to the team, we felt like this would be great synergy.”
