It’s the second leading cause of death from cancer in the United States.

Every year, 150,000 cases of colon cancer are diagnosed in the U.S. and 50,000 people will die from the disease.

Research shows that colon cancer can be decreased up to 90 percent by removing polyps from the colon before they become cancer, yet half of those people, who should be checked, don’t have the screening.

But a doctor at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee, says he knows a colonoscopy can save a life through his very personal story. Barb Cramer has the story in this Vanderbilt Video News Release.
