On Saturday, February 9 at 12:00 noon, the new signaled entrance on 21st Ave. at Dixie Place for the Central and East garages will open. Two other changes occur with the opening:  

  • 1st the existing entrance/exit to level 2 of the East garage will close and move to the new entrance/exit at Dixie Place.
  • 2nd the existing entrance/exit to the Central Garage on Medical Center Drive will become “Exit Only”.  

This change is being communicated to our patients via the VUMC Web site and the appointment reminder system. Additional officers will be at key locations to help direct traffic until new traffic patterns are established.  For a map of the new entrance click on the link below.

From 21st Avenue/Medical Center Drive

From 21st Avenue going west (away from Medical Center Drive), turn right at Dixie Place.  Follow signs for valet parking. Once inside the garage, take the South Tower elevator to the 3rd or 4th floor the Medical Center East. Hand Surgery, Sports Medicine, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, and the Fitness Center are located on the 3rd floor. Trauma, Spine, Joint Replacement, Orthopaedic Oncology, and General Orthopedics are located on the 4th floor. The Information desk is located in the main lobby.   

From Pierce Ave/Medical Center Drive

From Pierce Avenue, turn right onto Medical Center Drive.  Turn right into the East Parking Garage under the Medical Center East South Tower. Inside the garage, turn right for valet parking. Take the South Tower elevator to either the 3rd or 4th floor of  Medical Center East South Tower.  Hand Surgery, Sports Medicine, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, and the Fitness Center are located on the 3rd floor. Trauma, Spine, Joint Replacement, Orthopedic Oncology, and General Orthopedics are located on the 4th floor.  The Information Desk is located in the main lobby.

From the NORTH

 I-65 South to I-40 West. Take the BROADWAY/DEMONBREUN exit (Exit #209B) and turn right onto Broadway. Broadway splits into West End and Broadway, bearing to the left at split in the road. Broadway becomes 21st Avenue South. Take 21st Avenue and turn right onto Medical Center Drive.  Stay in the left lane, and turn left into the East Parking Garage at Dixie Place (under the Medical Center East South Tower). Inside the garage, turn right for valet parking.  Take the South Tower elevator to either the 3rd or 4th floor of Medical Center East South Tower.  Hand Surgery, Sports Medicine, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, and the Fitness Center are located on the 3rd Floor. Trauma, Spine, Joint Replacement, Orthopedic Oncology, nd General Orthopedics are located on the 4th floor.  The Information Desk is located in the lobby.

From THE WEST

 I-40 to I-440 East. Take the Hillsboro/21st Avenue South (the 3rd exit), going to the left for 21st Avenue. At the 7th traffic light, turn left onto Medical Center Drive. Stay in the left lane and turn left into the East Parking Garage under the Medical Center East South Tower. Inside the garage, turn right for valet parking. Take the South Tower elevator to either the 3rd or 4th floor of Medical Center East South Tower. Hand Surgery, Sports Medicine, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, and the Fitness Center are located on the 3rd floor. Trauma, Spine, Joint Replacement, Orthopedic Oncology, and General Orthopedics  are located on the 4th floor.  The Information Desk is located in the main lobby.    

From the EAST

 I-24 to I-40 West. Take the BROADWAY/CHURCH STREET exit. Turn left onto Broadway.  Broadway splits into West End and Broadway, so bear left onto Broadway. Broadway will become 21st Avenue South.

Take 21st Avenue South to Medical Center Drive and turn right. Turn left into the East Parking Garage under the Medical Center East South Tower. Inside the garage, turn right for valet parking.  Take the elevator to either the 3rd or 4th floor of Medical Center East South Tower. Hand Surgery, Sports Medicine, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, and the Fitness Center are located on the 3rd floor. Trauma, Spine, Joint Replacement, Orthopedic Oncology, and General Orthopedics are located on the 4th floor.  The Information Desk is located in the main lobby.

From the SOUTH

 I-65 to I-440 West. Take exit HILLSBORO/21ST AVENUE SOUTH (1st exit from I-65), bearing to the right for 21st Avenue.  At the 7th traffic light turn left onto Medical Center Drive. Turn left into the East Parking Garage under the Medical Center East South Tower. Inside the garage, turn right for valet parking.  Take the South Tower elevator to either the 3rd or 4th floor of Medical Center East South Tower. Hand Surgery, Sports Medicine, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, and the Fitness Center are located on the 3rd floor. Trauma, Spine, Joint  Replacement, Orthopedic Oncology, and General Orthopedics are located on the 4th floor.  The Information Desk is located in the main lobby.

Parking

The East Parking Garage is the most convenient parking facility for the Vanderbilt Orthopaedic Institute patients and families. There is no charge for patient and visitor parking when parking tickets are validated at the 2nd floor lobby. Complimentary valet parking is available.
