photo of Laura HustonspacerLaura joined the Vanderbilt Orthopaedic Institute in 2005, where she serves as the Associate Director of Sports Medicine Research. She is a graduate of the University of Michigan with degrees in Biomedical Engineering. Prior to joining us, she spent 15 years at the University of Michigan working in the research areas of knee and shoulder biomechanics.

Laura is a two time recipient of both the O’Donoghue Sports Injury Research Award (1992, 2001) and the Excellence in Research Award (1996, 2006) from the American Orthopaedic Society for Sport Medicine. Her work in knee injury mechanisms has also been recognized by the International Society of Biomechanics, becoming a recipient finalist for their annual Clinical Biomechanics Award Paper.

Her research focuses on the etiology and mechanisms of anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injuries, as well as functional outcomes in patients after ACL reconstruction.
