Dr. Kurt Spindler awarded NIH RO1 Grant

photo of Dr. SpenglerDr. Kurt P. Spindler was recently awarded an NIH R01 grant entitled “Prognosis and Predictors of ACL Reconstruction: A Multicenter Cohort Study”.  This grant is the first of its kind to be awarded to a member of our department.  It will fund MOON (Multicenter Orthopaedic Outcomes Network), a project studying long-term outcomes such as arthritis and future activity levels in patients following ACL reconstruction surgery.  Physicians from seven academic institutions across the country currently participate in the project contributing ACL patient data to a central database maintained here at Vanderbilt.  There are over 2000 patients involved in the MOON study to date.  This is an ongoing collaboration, the results of which will improve the treatment and care of ACL patients everywhere.  Congratulations to Dr. Spindler and the entire MOON Team!
