First Visit

On your first visit to the Vanderbilt Orthopaedic Institute, you will meet with a specialized orthopaedic surgeon and other members of the health care team who will evaluate you and work together to develop an individualized treatment plan. The team members will take the time to answer any questions or concerns you might have about your diagnosis or treatment plan. We encourage you to bring a family member or friend with you to your visits, we want you to feel comfortable with the information you receive.

Please bring a list of current medications, copies of x-rays, MRI studies, bone scans, CT scans (disc will not be returned to you and original hard films will be sent back to the facility), EMG reports, clinical records and any other pertinent information related to this appointment (this applies only if the film/studies mentioned were performed outside of Vanderbilt University Medical Center).

We encourage you to take advantage of our “FREE” valet parking service located on the 1st and 2nd levels of the East Garage. If you would prefer to park your vehicle, be sure to bring your parking ticket with you to your appointment for free validation.
