Facts About Managing
Latex Sensitive Patients

Natural rubber latex has been used in manufacturing products for over 100 years. It is assumed that the increased use of latex products, especially in healthcare, has attributed to the increase of latex allergies. It is necessary to have precautions established and in place so that exposure to latex by patients with these sensitivities can be virtually eliminated.

Many commonly used items such as B/P cuffs, stethoscopes and gloves contain latex. Remove or cover all natural rubber surfaces that come into contact with patients identified as latex sensitive or allergic.
