The Diagnostic Sonography (Ultrasound) Section has experienced sonologists and sonographers who perform the entire spectrum of sonographic studies, including obstetric, gynecologic, pediatric, abdominal, and transplant patients. The section has received accreditation of its Ob/Gyn and vascular studies. Our facilities include separate inpatient and outpatient departments as well as specialized ones in the Ob/Gyn, Infertility, Gastrointestinal, and Breast clinics. We have state-of-the-art equipment from several manufacturers as well as newly developed equipment with specialized applications. Our research projects include tumor imaging with color Doppler sonography, enhanced gynecologic imaging with contrast media, and evaluation of renal and liver transplant perfusion. The section organizes a major annual symposium which has been in existence for over 20 years, attracting both national and international registrants. The sonographers and sonologists on our staff have published major texts and participate in many symposia, in addition to offering supervised instruction to residents, fellows, and practicing physicians.
