An intensive one-year, ACGME accredited program in Pediatric Radiology is now available
to qualified radiologists seeking subspecialty training. Candidates for the fellowship should be
certified by the American Board of Radiology or in the examination process by the July 1 start date. The program
incoporates all clinical aspects of pediatric imaging including CT, MR imaging, and ultrasound examinations.
There will be opportunities for research as well as teaching, and fellows are encouraged in the development of
academic interests.
The goal of the Pediatric Radiology Fellowship Program is to fulfill the three-fold mission of the
Vanderbilt University Medical Center - education, patient care, and research. Clinical rotations are designed to
enable the fellow to accumulate a broad base of knowledge, develop technical skills, and establish decision making
and consultation skills. The overriding concern is patient care, both direct through imaging and special procedures
and indirect as consultant. The program provides research opportunities ranging from the basic science laboratory
to high tech imaging, as well as clinical observations and outcomes.
The Pediatric Radiology Section recently moved into the newly built Monroe Carrell
Children’s Hospital. The new facilities have 339 beds which includes 23 PICU beds and 58 NICU beds. Additionally,
the section has exclusive use of one CT scanner, MRI scanner, and nuclear medicine facility as well as two
fluoroscopes, rooms for plain radiographs, two ultrasound rooms, a classroom, reading room, and consultation room.
With this increased capacity for pediatric imaging, study numbers are expected to increase to between 60,000 and
70,000 per year.
A formal application is required, including letters of reference from faculty at the applicant's
residency program.
Please send all documents (Application, CV, personal
