Occupational and Physical
Therapists specializing in the rehabilitation of burn patients are
essential team members on the burn unit.
These rehabilitation specialists work closely with the physicians
and nurses to ensure patient care plans for mobility, positioning,
and skin care are optimized through close communication.
Vanderbilt
Burn Center is a 20-bed Level I Burn Center dedicated to meeting
the challenges of burn treatment and recovery. Our center serves
as a regional referral source for both adult and pediatric patients.
Vanderbilt Burn Center provides quality comprehensive care for burn
patients staffed by physicians, nurses, therapists, and support personnel
including psychiatrists and a chaplain who work as a team to apply
the most advanced technology and treatment methods possible. The
staff also provide assistance in treating the emotional trauma
of patients and their families to help them live full,
productive lives. In addition, Vanderbilt Burn Center serves as a
resource center for both referring facilities and the community,
providing outreach programs, continuing education, and ongoing research
to maintain state-of-the-art care.
An outpatient clinic is operated in proximity to the inpatient
unit to allow continuity of care with the burn specialists.
