Jasper
Richardson MEd, MS-HCM, ATC, CSCS is an athletic trainer in the Vanderbilt
Orthopaedic Institute Fitness Center. He comes to Vanderbilt having spent 4
years at the Tulane Institute of Sports Medicine serving as a clinical Athletic
Trainer providing patient care, assisting in the Human Performance/Biomechanics
Laboratory, and serving as the Head Athletic Trainer for a minor league ice
hockey team during the 2001-2002 season. Prior to his time at Tulane, Jasper
completed a 1-year fellowship with the United States Olympic Committee at the
Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs. Jasper was a member of the U.S.
Medical Staff for the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens , Greece. He has also served
as a member of the U.S. Medical Staff for the 2003 Pan-American Games held in
the Dominican Republic and the 2002 Paralympic Powerlifting World Championships
in Malaysia. Jasper received a B.S.Ed. in Sports Medicine and a M.Ed. in Athletic
Training from the University of Virginia , and completed a M.S. in Health Care
Management from the University of New Orleans. Jasper holds numerous athletic
related certifications including being a National Academy of Sports Medicine
- Performance Enhancement Specialist, a Certified Strength and Conditioning
Specialist, and holds Level 1 coaching certifications with both U.S.A. Weightlifting
and U.S.A. Track and Field. In addition to his duties in the Vanderbilt Orthopaedic
Institute Fitness Center, he also provides athletic training coverage to the
Vanderbilt Student Recreation Center and club sports teams.
