TV special to examine advances in heart care

4/19/2012 - Vanderbilt Heart & Vascular Institute will present an hour-long television special on Monday, April 23, highlighting all aspects of heart care, from heart-healthy lifestyle to breakthrough technologies for treating heart disease.

“Healing Broken Hearts: Advances in Heart Care” will air at 7 p.m. on WTVF-NewsChannel 5.

The program will cover topics including atrial fibrillation, heart failure, heart transplant and use of ventricular assist devices as both a “bridge” to transplant and in place of transplant, called “destination therapy.”

Viewers on Twitter are invited to chat with VHVI during the show using #VUMCHeart or on Facebook.com/VUMCHeart.

Segments from the program will also be available on the Vanderbilt Health YouTube channel.
