5/31/2012 - Vanderbilt University School of Nursing has received renewal of a contract to manage three public school-based health centers in Nashville.
The contract allows VUSN to provide one registered nurse each at Fall-Hamilton Enhanced Option Elementary School, Taylor Stratton Elementary School and Park Avenue Enhanced Option Elementary School. These three schools have programs starting at pre-kindergarten.
The new contract officially begins with the 2012-2013 school year and runs for five years. VUSN was the incumbent for this contract, which allows the dedicated nurses who have a relationship with the children to provide consistent, high quality care to the students in these schools.
“This is wonderful news because these health centers are run by high-quality school nurses who are a lifeline to more than 1,500 students, their families and the economically disadvantaged neighborhoods where these schools are located,” said Terri Crutcher, MSN, R.N., VUSN assistant dean for Clinical and Community Partnerships.
“This is a great example of Vanderbilt reaching out to the community and making a profound impact.”
