11/30/2001 - Cool Springs Imaging opened Oct. 1, providing a full range of radiological services for patients in Williamson County. The center is located in the Cool Springs Surgery Center.
Partnered with Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Cool Springs Imaging offers bone density testing, CT screening, CT cardiac scoring, MRI, mammography, pain management, ultrasound, and X-ray.
Dr. Brett Smith, medical director, explained the mission of the Center as service-oriented.
Our whole basis of success is to ensure that the referring physicians as well as our patients are happy and treated well, Smith said.
A recent graduate of Vanderbilt Medical School where he was chief resident in Radiology, Smith is comfortable with the partnership. We will receive referrals from both local and Vanderbilt physicians and will have the capacity to send our patients to Vanderbilt for more advanced technologies, Smith said.
Dr. Martin P. Sandler, professor of chair of Radiology and Radiological Sciences, sees the center as an extension of Vanderbilts commitment to patient care. The goal is to provide patient access to multi-modality radiology, he said. The center will expand services to patients living outside Nashville who do not have access to the quality services provided by Vanderbilt.
One of the main advantages of the center, according to Sandler, is the state-of-the-art digital equipment, which allows radiologists and referring physicians to share information via computers. Referring physicians now have access to images before the patient returns to their office, Sandler said.
Womens imaging is also a focus of the center with mammography, bone density and ultrasound equipment, Sandler said.©2013 Vanderbilt University Medical Center
