CORES (Core Ordering & Reporting Enterprise System) is a web-based system developed by Vanderbilt University Medical Center in the Office of Research. This fully functional system provides an extremely efficient and intuitive method to electronically process internal (and external) core billing. Although the system was originally designed for Core Facilities/Shared Resources billing, it can be used for essentially any internal exchange of funds and external billing.
This system provides a common means of entering orders and billing across all cores and eliminates internal paper invoices thus saving time. The central office is able to see how all cores are doing as a whole and individually at the click of a button. Many types of usage reports are available as well as an ad-hoc query function that allows for reporting on any combination of dates, account numbers, customers, etc.
In 2001 and the years following, under the combined visions of John F. Manning, Jr., Ph.D., MBA and Mark Magnuson, MD, Keith Dance, MBA, directed the efforts to bring the system to what is it today. None of which would have been possible without Roger Allbee and the team of programmers who are responsible for all of the technical aspects of the application.
The CORES User Group continues to grow as institutions learn of the value offered through the system. As part of this growth; Vanderbilt University and iLab Solutions have signed a partnership to merge the CORES software with iLab's core facility management suite. This partnership brings together the two most sophisticated and broadly-used solutions for core facility management. We appreciate the support of all the institutions and your interest in this application. We look forward to continued growth of both the system and the partnerships we continue to form.
