Background
Uyen Tran, M.D., joined the Vanderbilt Eye Institute as a board certified fellowship-trained corneal and refractive surgeon in July 2002. Dr. Tran grew up in the Washington DC area. She received her medical degree from the Medical College of Virginia. She then went on to do her surgical internship at Georgetown University and completed residency in Ophthalmology at the Medical College of Virginia. Her fellowship in Cornea and Refractive surgery was done at Vanderbilt University. Dr. Tran specializes in the management of corneal and external diseases, corneal transplantation, cataract and refractive surgery. Dr. Tran has extensive skills and experience in the state-of-the-art forms of anterior segment surgery- including Bladeless Wavefront guided Custom LASIK. She is the Director of the Cornea/ Refractive Surgery division at the Vanderbilt Eye Institute and is also the Associate Medical Director of the Nashville Eye Bank.
Dr. Tran lives in the Green Hills area of Nashville with her husband, Dr. Michael Pilla, and their four dogs: Beau, Maxie, Scooter, and Pico. She enjoys Pilates, Yoga, and shopping!
