Michele A. Martens, RN, MSN, CNS-BC
Michele is a Psychiatric Mental Health Clinical Nurse Specialist with 13 years experience working with individuals, groups, and families. She is co-founder of the Fertile Hope Program for Healing, a partnership specializing in fertility counseling. Along with her group work, Michele provides counseling to individuals and couples who are in various stages of the fertility journey. Her practice centers around assisting individuals and couples through the stress of treatment, counseling for individuals and couples interested in third party family-building alternatives and also in the transition to an adoption plan or child-free living. In addition to her fertility work, Michele is a full time faculty member at Vanderbilt University School of Nursing.
Michele holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Tennessee Technological University and a Master of Science degree in Nursing from Vanderbilt University. At Vanderbilt, she specialized in Adult Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing and received extensive training in Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy and its application in the treatment of depressive and anxiety disorders. Michele also has experience in working with substance disorders, codependency, and crisis intervention.
Michele's interest in fertility work arose from her own personal journey. It is her heartfelt desire to teach other women and couples the tools she has learned on her own journey and to assist in the reduction of depression, stress, and anxiety the journey can cause. It is her true desire to help women believe in themselves and to assist in the process of healing and reclaiming of lives.
