Training Requirements

All staff, faculty, students, volunteers, and contractors working with Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) receive training on privacy and information security, including HIPAA regulations and related VUMC policies upon hire and annually thereafter.  For further information, please see related pages:  Facutly, House Staff, Staff and Other sub-pages.

Newly hired staff will receive HIPAA Basic Training during Its Who We Are Orientation.

All staff and faculty are expected to complete an updated privacy and information security training module every year.  The annual training module is automatically assigned and available in The Learning Exchange for employed staff in medical center positions. Students in the School of Nursing and the School of Medicine are assigned the annual on-line training requirement through their respective schools.  Faculty are assigned the annual on-line training requirement as a component of their annual orientation and training profile.

If you have questions or need assistance in finding the appropriate training material, please contact the Privacy Office at 936-3594 or email at  Privacy.office@vanderbilt.edu.
