Neuroscience Student Organization
About the NSO
As the Vanderbilt Neuroscience Student Organization (NSO) we are actively involved in our community and in improving the overall Neuroscience graduate student experience.
Community Outreach
Each year we host we a community outreach even called Brain Blast. Aimed at children, we design creative brain booths based on ongoing research. Kids are able to design brain hats, build neurons, test their senses … and even see & hold a real human brain!
We also hold an annual retreat. It’s a great opportunity to interact, form friendships, and collaborations with other members of the Neuroscience community.
We host additional student events geared to promote an interactive community.
Academics
Our academic coordinators assist students in their academic preparation. They keep previous coursework exams on file, and also organize mock qualifying exams for 2nd year students.
As a community we vote on a student invited speaker – each year alternating between a cognitive & systems speaker and a molecular & cellular speaker.
